Memorable Performance of Mehedi Hasan vs Sri Lanka 2025 helped Bangladesh to recorded their first-ever T20I series victory against Sri Lanka, wrapping up the tour with a win at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
The series was level at 1-1 before the final match. The pressure was on Bangladesh to win the series. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Interestingly, this was Litton Das’s 9th consecutive toss loss.
Sri Lanka lost their first wicket early, with Kusal Mendis dismissed in the very first over. He was caught by Towhid Hridoy at deep square leg, bowled by Shoriful Islam.

The second wicket fell in the next over, as Kusal Perera was dismissed by Mehedi Hasan.
Veteran batter Dinesh Chandimal, making his return to the squad since February 2022, was soon dismissed by Mehedi Hasan. Bowling a tight spell in the powerplay, Mehedi conceded just one run in his first two overs.
He continued his disciplined bowling in the middle overs and claimed his third wicket by dismissing Charith Asalanka.
Mehedi struck again to remove Pathum Nissanka for his fourth wicket. At the end of 11 overs, Sri Lanka had lost half their side. Although Bangladesh bowled economically until the 19th over, they could only manage two more wickets.
Despite the attacking bowling of Mehedi Hasan vs Sri Lanka 2025, Dasun Shanaka played a brilliant cameo in the final over, scoring 21 runs, helping Sri Lanka reach a total of 132, but it was surprising that Shanaka managed to score big only in the final over.
In response, Bangladesh got off to a shaky start, losing Parvez Hossain Emon on the very first ball of the second innings, trapped lbw by Nuwan Thushara. However, captain Litton Das scored 32, and Tanzid Hasan played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 73.
Bangladesh chased down the target in just 16.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand, winning the series 2-1.
Mehedi Hasan was named player of the match for his career-best figures of 4 for 11. What a game it turned out to be for him.
Captain Litton Das was awarded player of the series for scoring 114 runs — the highest run scorer in the series. This memorable win has given Bangladesh cricket fans something to celebrate after a long wait.
